Your BeAScout pin is often the first impression families have of your pack. Make sure your contact information, meeting details, and description are up to date so interested families can easily find and join your unit.
A member of your unit's Key 3 must make these updates through Organization Manager on my.scouting.org.
Host a recruitment event specifically for prospective families before your regular pack meetings begin. A dedicated recruiting event gives new families the attention they deserve, allows them to ask questions in a relaxed setting, and helps them feel welcomed before jumping into the excitement of a regular pack meeting.
This event is your opportunity to showcase what Cub Scouting is all about, introduce your leaders, explain how your pack operates, and help families complete their registrations. Starting with a welcoming, low-pressure event helps create a positive first impression and sets the stage for a successful year.
Hold your first pack meeting within one week of your recruitment event. Scheduling your meeting soon afterward helps new families build a routine while the excitement of joining is still fresh.
A quick transition from recruiting event to pack meeting keeps families engaged, helps new Scouts make friends, and gives parents confidence that they've made the right choice. The sooner families become part of your pack's regular schedule, the more likely they are to stay involved throughout the year.
Submit all new Scout applications by October 4 so we can mail each new Cub Scout their FREE Thunderbird Games ticket before the event.
Research consistently shows that new Cub Scouts are much more likely to remain in Scouting when they participate in an outdoor Scouting event within their first month of joining. Thunderbird Games gives new Scouts the chance to make friends, build excitement, and experience the fun of Cub Scouting right from the start.
