GHV Volunteers:
This summer we are launching a NEW Volunteer Program to bring more expertise to STEM Ranch.
To do this, we are assembling a small team of adult volunteers willing to spend one week at Camp Read this summer helping Scouts learn the skills at STEM Ranch.
Volunteers will serve as members of the Camp Staff (yes, you’ll earn a staff t-shirt) in clearly defined roles helping Scouts learn practical skills and explore new interests. We are looking for volunteers with experience or enthusiasm in:
STEM: engineering, technology, skilled trades, science, education, IT, or related fields
Camp leadership will provide the program structure and materials needed to make your week successful. Prior camp staff or Scouting leadership experience is not required. You will need to register as an adult scouter and complete some mandatory training prior to your arrival at camp
Many of our most effective volunteers are alumni, parents, engineers, tradespeople, educators, and friends of camp who simply want to spend a week sharing what they know with Scouts.
During a typical week of camp, dozens of Scouts pass through these programs learning skills they may use for the rest of their lives — whether it is completing a simple plumbing project, or learning how technology and trades connect to real-world careers.
Our goal is to build depth, continuity, and excellence in these programs so that volunteers enjoy the experience and return to Camp Read year after year.
What we can accomplish for Scouts this summer depends entirely on the size and strength of the volunteer team.
