New Required Training: Safeguarding Youth
Scouting America has launched the new Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT)—now mandatory for all registered adult volunteers and a joining requirement for new adult members.
Course Overview

Title: Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT)

Duration: Approximately 90 minutes

Languages Available: English and Spanish

Completion Requirements:

Complete all course lessons

Score 80% or higher on the final assessment

Annual Refresher Requirement

After completing the full 90-minute training once, volunteers must complete a 15-minute annual refresher course and retest to remain current.
Transition from Previous Youth Protection Training (YPT)
- All Registered Leaders are required to take the new SYT Training by May 1st, 2026. All prior YPT trainings will expire 5/1/26.
