Reminder: Scouting Safely Applies to Everyone
Nothing is more important than the safety of our Scouts. Making sure that all Leaders understand the Guide to Safe Scouting is so very important. Part of the Rules & Regulations of Scouting has to do with timely Registration of Scouts and Leaders. A young person is not a Scout until they are Registered with the Council. It is very important that all youth and adults are Registered with the Council as soon as they join the organization. Being a Member of the Scouting Program triggers certain things, including: Advancement Timing, Newsletters, Invites to Programs, Trainings, Sickness & Accident Insurance (youth & Leaders) and Liability Insurance for Leaders. The National Council has also changed the process on Adult Leaders. An Adult Leader is not a Registered Leader until the full Registration Process is complete, including: Application Recheck & Criminal Background Check are complete.
One great idea is to open each meeting with a Safety Moment to remind all participants about how important Safety is to Scouting. Here is a Link to some great Safety Moment Videos:

Knowing the Rules, Regulations and Policies are important for everyone’s Safety. If you have questions about the Rules of Scouting, please contact the Council Service Center or email at GHV.Service@Scouting.org

Enjoy Scouting and make the most of all our activities, programs and events. But, let’s all make sure we do it in a safe way.
