We have been informed by the Dutchess and Putnam County Departments of Health that no overnight camping is allowed at our properties by order of the Governor. Both Departments have informed us that allowing camping at any of our properties is a violation of the Executive Order and of Department of Health Guidance. Violation of these orders will cost the Council thousands of dollars in fines. Thus, all camping at all camps (Bullowa, Durland, Nooteeming & Read) operated by the Greater Hudson Valley Council are no longer open for overnight camping. We are allowed to have day events with an increased group size of 100 people and units can come for the day and enjoy our properties. As soon as the Executive Order and Guidance is lifted, we will inform our membership and allow overnight camping.
Council Leadership is extremely disappointed by this decision of the Departments of Health. However, it is our obligation to obey the order and provide the safest environment we can for Scouting.
