Unit Leader:
We wanted to update you on the status of Durland Scout Reservation and Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation. Governor Cuomo has issued some new executive orders having to do with the operations of children’s camps in New York State. In consultation with the Putnam County Department of Health, it has been decided that both camps will be closed until further notice. This is a very hard and difficult decision, but has been made for us by the Governor. The closure will effect: NYLT, TTE, Family Camp, etc. The Camps will be closed until we get a change in the executive order and the Department of Health is able to be consulted.
One of Scouting’s major goals is Citizenship. Being a citizen at times is very hard. Scouts know that the government’s primary purpose is the protection and safety of all its people. The Westchester-Putnam Council respects Scouting’s goals. Making sure our Scouts, Leaders and Families are safe is our first priority. If we can be of any assistance, please contact the Council Service Center at wpc.service@scouting.org .
