Coronavirus Update, March 16, 2020:
Due to concerns regarding the recent public health crisis, the Westchester-Putnam Council has made the following decisions.
The Council Service Center in Hawthorne will be closed effective March 17th. The staff will be working remotely and will return all voicemails and emails. You may still continue to mail (41 Saw Mill River Road, Hawthorne, NY 10532) or scan forms. Please mail forms/applications that require a payment along with a check. We cannot accept credit cards over the phone at this time.
All meetings and events scheduled through April 30th are cancelled. We will evaluate and update as needed. Units should suspend all in-person gatherings, meetings and events during this time. If you have signed up for a training or merit badge day event, you will be contacted regarding a new date.
Eagle Rank processing is on hold. The office will NOT be open to drop off or pick up Eagle applications/packets. Additional information will be communicated soon regarding Eagle processing. The National Council is working on a solution.
The Annual Meeting and Award Dinner scheduled for May 11th has been postponed. Refunds will be processed accordingly. Silver Beaver Nominations will still be accepted until March 20th. There will be a Silver Beaver Award Reception later in the year.
Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation and Durland Scout Reservation will be closed through April 30th. We will evaluate and update as needed. Those that paid for cabin rentals, etc. will receive a full refund. We will begin to process these refunds this week and will be completed within 30 days.
The National Scout Shop in Hawthorne will be closed beginning March 17th.
Please follow the Council’s facebook page for updates and program activities your Scouts can do from home. We encourage you to use webinars, teleconferences and other technology to engage your unit.
We recommend that you stay updated on CDC guidelines regarding keeping yourself and your family healthy. We will continue to update you regarding critical information and further impacts to the local Scouting Program and operations. Thank you for your patience, support, and commitment to Scouting.
