John M. “Jack” Coughlin, of Larchmont, passed away July 25, 2019, having lived 95 incredible years. Jack had a deep connection to the Boy Scouts of America, serving as scoutmaster for 5 years, and as a 57-year member of the Westchester Putnam Council Executive Board. He was also the Archdiocesan representative for the Scouts at the United Nations and was chair of the Archdiocesan Catholic Committee for Scouting. His recognitions also included Distinguished Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver Council Award, Silver Antelope Region Award, Silver Buffalo National Award and he was the recipient of the last Alumni of the Year Award in 2011.
Jack was a leader and friend to the Westchester-Putnam Council for over half a century. His guidance and kind heart have influenced countless youth and adults leading to a stronger community in which we live. Jack was a pioneer in leading the Council forward. A trusted and respected friend, his influence and leadership will live on in all of the lives that he has touched. The Scout Movement will continue to move forward because of his dedication and kindness, for this, we are eternally grateful and will always remember Jack.
